In conjunction with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), FPE has been able to deliver innovative environmental monitoring solutions, assessing ecological and environmental conditions with the upgrade of the Bruce Highway from Cooroy to Curra. The construction footprint associated with the upgrade traverses a number of sensitive ecological receptors. FPE has implemented a detailed Environmental Monitoring Program assessing these ecological receptors, through aquatic health surveys, in-situ water quality data loggers and assessment of endangered frog species.

Our Role

FPE was contracted to undertake the following services for TMR:
• Strategic environmental advice and approval documentation
• Active nocturnal surveys for frogs
• Monitoring of baseline and during construction water quality via data loggers installed and maintained on site
• Monitoring of aquatic health before, during and following construction through an index of stream condition assessment, habitat baseline survey and monitoring of physical water quality parameters

Outcomes

This particular contract is a three year project that commenced in early 2013 and is still current.
