Glenview Koala Offset Project

Management of land for offsetting of koala habitat.

Assignment

FPE has managed TMR’s Koala offset property related to the Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway (CR2SM) Bruce Highway Upgrade Project since 2017, and undertakes actions outlined in the Offset Management Plan (OMP) to enhance Koala habitat on a 52 hectare bushland property in Glenview. The aims of the project are to improve vegetation condition, enhance the use of the site by Koala’s and secure Koala habitat in the long term.

Our Role

FPE’s management of this offset site included:

  • Baseline and annual Koala monitoring utilising the Spot Assessment Technique & Koala
    detection dogs;
  • Baseline and annual habitat/vegetation monitoring (BioCondition assessments);
  • Development of a Fire Management Plan and the planning & implementation of a low intensity
    ecological burn;
  • Facilitating engagement with local First Nations people to conduct a cultural heritage survey of
    the proposed burn area to ensure protection of any artifacts or other significant features;
  • Weed control and monitoring;
  • EVNT flora population surveys; and
  • Pre-burn fauna habitat inspections, mapping and management & Koala drone surveys.
